The Regional Underwriting Manager will become part of a dedicated underwriting management team focusing on leadership and mentoring of underwriting colleagues.
This position interacts extensively with internal colleagues, company management and outside Agent personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Cultivating solid relationships with company agents and internal staff while working towards achieving the most optimal outcomes for Merchants and our policyholders.
Managing activities and development of underwriters in accordance with departmental objective and standards.
Achieving regional underwriting goals and objectives by providing guidance and direction to the regional staff regarding underwriting guidelines and identifying and rectifying the underwriting and book of business issues.
Achieving regional loss ratio and production goals for commercial lines of business.
Qualifications & Skills:
Qualified candidates will have a 4 year degree or equivalent work experience.
Property and Casualty insurance related coursework is desired i.
e.
CPCU.
A minimum of 7 years commercial underwriting experience.
Previous supervisory or management experience is required.
Previous Agency relationships within the local insurance industry - New Hampshire, Massachusetts and the Greater Boston area is highly desirable.
Knowledge of local industry developments and trends.
Microsoft Office knowledge as well as the ability to work with internal company systems (WINS, ImageRight etc.
).
Strong communication and organizational skills.
The ability to travel at least 25% of the time to meet with agents, conduct sales meetings, and develop customer relationships.
A valid driver's license is required.
